V/H/S (2012)

A gang of young thugs, who film petty crime for fun, and make money by selling videos assaulting women in the street, take a steal-to-order job, requiring them to break into a house and steal a VHS tape.
When they get there, they find the occupant dead, and many tapes.
Told that they "will know" which tape is needed, they begin to watch some of the tapes, the contents of the tapes form the 5 stories presented in the movie.

Mikey

NOTE: This is a cut-down version of my review from year-round protect VideoNastyAWeek.co.uk, Where it was this weeks movie (despite not being an official "Video Nasty - Explination over on that blog)

In the opening scenes, Mikey kills his adopted family, pretends a stranger did it, and is quickly re-alloated to a new couple who, for some reason, are not told that Mikey (supposedly) witnessed his last family being murdered - this sounds to me like the kind of information you might want to know about your kid, but hay-ho!

Trick 'r Treat

Okay, so this is a bit different from the rest of the 2010 picks - unlike the other films I've shared my thoughts on this month, I've seen Trick 'R Treat before - in fact it was one of 2009s recommendations!

So why am I banging on about it today? Coz it's Halloween, that's why!

Night Of The Living Dead

In 2009, I didn't review movies, so much as briefly recomend a few via my Facebook account, This was one of them...

Back in 1968 when it was released, in order to claim copyright on a film, the copyright had to be stated on screen; As was usually the case, George A. Romero's movie 'Night of the Flesh Eaters' claimed the copyright on its title card. When the studio re-named it to the now familiar 'Night of the Living Dead', they didn't put the notice on the new title card.

The result of this is that the most famous Zombie movie of all time is in the public domain.

Trick 'r Treat

In 2009, I didn't review movies, so much as briefly recomend a few via my Facebook account, This was one of them...
None too gory and suitable for horror-wimps, Trick 'r Treat is a collection of short stories, connected by intertwining timelines (think "Creepshow" meets "Pulp Fiction"). The stories are sufficiently different that there's something for you here however you like your horror (well, except torture porn - but for that there's a new Saw movie EVERY FRIKKIN' YEAR!!!)
