In the town of Sleepy Hollow, Washington Irving's original manuscript for The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow is stolen from the museum; in the chase, the burglars hide the manuscript in a wild growing pumpkin.
Meanwhile Nick Crane (a descendent of the man Irving's hero is based on) and his friend Kate are planning a haunted house attraction for their school.... And they just happen to pick the same pumpkin.
To make matters worse, on Halloween Eve, all ghosts may roam the earth... Including the headless horseman... and the pumpkin just happens to be a magical one; one that will allow the horseman to become flesh if he places it in his head at exactly midnight.
Assisted by the ghost of a civil war hero, Nick and Kate must keep the pumpkin away from not only the horseman, but also the bumbling burglars.
One man, vainly assuming you give a rat's ass about his obsession with reviewing Horror movies every October...

Cry_Wolf (2005)
On Owen's first day at his post boarding school, he is immediately accepted by his new room-mate's clique.
When a dead girl shows up in the woods around the school, the group decide it would be funny to convince everyone that a serial killer is on the loose, and so they send an anonymous email about a made-up serial killer "The Wolf" who, they claim, strikes boarding schools, killing a list of people in a specific order, starting with a townie (someone who doesn't go to the school) and then, come the full moon, different types of student.
Except, since sending the email, the kids start getting stalked by someone matching The Wolf's description... is it one of the group playing a joke? Has whoever killed the girl in the woods hear about the email and not taken to it kindly? or is it something else all together?
All we know for sure, is that next week is Halloween... and a full moon!

V/H/S (2012)
A gang of young thugs, who film petty crime for fun, and make money by selling videos assaulting women in the street, take a steal-to-order job, requiring them to break into a house and steal a VHS tape.
When they get there, they find the occupant dead, and many tapes.
Told that they "will know" which tape is needed, they begin to watch some of the tapes, the contents of the tapes form the 5 stories presented in the movie.

The List includes Joe Pasquale, the titicular Keith (Chegwin) and Rustle Grant (all playing themselves) and Tony Blackburn (played, without explanation, by a 20 something from Hollyoaks)
I swear I am not fucking making this up!

Trick 'r Treat
Okay, so this is a bit different from the rest of the 2010 picks - unlike the other films I've shared my thoughts on this month, I've seen Trick 'R Treat before - in fact it was one of 2009s recommendations!
So why am I banging on about it today? Coz it's Halloween, that's why!

Trick 'r Treat
In 2009, I didn't review movies, so much as briefly recomend a few via my Facebook account, This was one of them...
None too gory and suitable for horror-wimps, Trick 'r Treat is a collection of short stories, connected by intertwining timelines (think "Creepshow" meets "Pulp Fiction"). The stories are sufficiently different that there's something for you here however you like your horror (well, except torture porn - but for that there's a new Saw movie EVERY FRIKKIN' YEAR!!!)
