The Shining (1980)

A family move to an hotel on a mountain for the winter, so that Jack, the father, a frustrated writer, can work as caretaker while the snow cuts the hotel off from the outside world for the season.
As Jack descends into alcoholism and insanity, the hotel's decedent and sordid past is reaching out to him.

The Haunted Pumpkin of Sleepy Hollow (2003)

In the town of Sleepy Hollow, Washington Irving's original manuscript for The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow is stolen from the museum; in the chase, the burglars hide the manuscript in a wild growing pumpkin.
Meanwhile Nick Crane (a descendent of the man Irving's hero is based on) and his friend Kate are planning a haunted house attraction for their school.... And they just happen to pick the same pumpkin.
To make matters worse, on Halloween Eve, all ghosts may roam the earth... Including the headless horseman... and the pumpkin just happens to be a magical one; one that will allow the horseman to become flesh if he places it in his head at exactly midnight.
Assisted by the ghost of a civil war hero, Nick and Kate must keep the pumpkin away from not only the horseman, but also the bumbling burglars.

They set up in business as ghost-removers for hire, but soon find themselves facing a threat to the entire city.

Sam, a man so deep in depression he opens his day with a one player version of Russian Roulette, is investigating the building collapse which killed his wife and daughter.
After a bad reaction to some vaccinations, Noah falls into a coma. "Waking" he meets fallen angel, Yusef, who gives him a choice; die in the coma, or assist the angel by killing for him, that Yusef can get what he came for... 5 Souls.

Bones (2001)

In 1979 Jimmy Bones was the numbers runner for, and respected protector of, his hood, until he was murdered.
In the 22 years since, the hood has become a ghetto.
A bunch of kids wanting to make good for themselves, and region aye the area, buy a property to convert into a club. Unbeknownst to them, the property is Jimmy's old place, and the stray dog they find in the building and adopt is the key to Bones' return... Those who wronged him in life had better look out, and God help anyone who gets in between Bones and his victims.

A Wrong Way To Die (2012)

Aka: A Hole in the Desert, MoniKa, MoniKa: A Wrong Way To Die

Reagan Tyler receives a phone-call from his friend JJ, inviting him to meet at a motel in Las Vegas, where JJ has met a girl, and promises to hook Reagan up with the girls friend, who is staying in the room next to their own.
For lack of anything better to do, Reagan flies to Vegas, only to find JJ and his companion not answering their room door, he does however meet the promised friend, Monika ("with a K") who turns out to be the woman of his dreams. They go out, have a great time, and spend the night together.
The following morning, Ragan calls on JJ, and is told why he and his lady friend were unavailable the day before. It turns out that yesterday, before Ragan arrived in town, Monika was murdered...Not a earning a "recommended" but only the 2nd movie so far this year to go in my "keep" pile.

V/H/S/2 (aka S-VHS) (2013)

A Private investigator and his partner have been asked to check out the whereabouts of a missing student.
Breaking into his house (with the permission of his mother, the PI's client) they find an elaborate setup of multiple TVs, VCRs and a Laptop.
The PI goes to check out the rest of the house, and leaves his partner to see if she can find any clues on the laptop, or any of the collection of VHS tapes strewn around the floor.

V/H/S (2012)

A gang of young thugs, who film petty crime for fun, and make money by selling videos assaulting women in the street, take a steal-to-order job, requiring them to break into a house and steal a VHS tape.
When they get there, they find the occupant dead, and many tapes.
Told that they "will know" which tape is needed, they begin to watch some of the tapes, the contents of the tapes form the 5 stories presented in the movie.

Episode 50 (2011)

After 49 episodes of debunking 'haunted' buildings, the team from "Paranormal  Inspectors" are given the opportunity of a lifetime.
A Rich nogoodnick with only months left to live grants them access to an abandoned mental facility, dubbed "The Most Haunted Building in the Country".
But there's a catch; he's also granted access to a rival group of supernatural investigators, who are out to prove the existence of an afterlife.
Something went wrong that weekend; and episode 50 will never air.

It isn't long before both groups are terrorised by the foul smelling ghost of a serial killer that the sheriff captured 30 years ago.

The Woman in Black

4 years after his wife died during childbirth, struggling lawyer Arthur Kips (Daniel Radcliffe) is sent to a small remote town to obtain the paperwork that his company may settle an estate by selling a large manor house.
Upon arrival, the locals are obviously not keen to have Arthur around but, despite every on stick the townsfolk throw at him, Arthur is determined to do his job in time for his son and his nanny to join him for a break in the country.
Upon arrival at the Manor, it is clear that something is amiss, and it becomes quickly apparent that the house is haunted...

Dark Floors

An Hospital elevator breaks down with 6 people on board (A security guard, a nurse, a self-centred business man, a older male patient, an autistic girl and her father), when it starts working again, the doors open on an abandoned hospital, with no apparent way out. Movements in the shadows and on reflections soon turn out to be more than tricks of the light.
