Frankenfish (2004)

A biologist is sent to investigate the death of a fisherman in the swamps of Louisiana; it soon transpired that the cause of death was attack from a hitherto unknown species of fish.
After meeting with the fisherman's wife, they find themselves hauled up in a local resident's house boat, while the fish is on the attack...
Based (loosely) on a real event.

After the slew of Asylum / Syfy Creature Features, its hard to believe that this is a 'real' film, but coming from Columbia-TriStar, one has to accept that it is.

If follows the standard template of the aforementioned cheap schedule filler, and has about the same quality of CGI, had it been newer, you would either believe it to be one of them, or a rip off of one.

That noted, I'm left with little to say...

There are some great jump-scares, the fish attacking the house is a thing to behold, and there's a very satisfying moment when the guy you want to die finally does.

If you enjoy cheesy monster-fests, and can ignore bad acting, lousy effects and a dull 1st half (the movie is 45 minutes in before we even see the titicular fish) you'll love it.
