The Eye

In 2009, I didn't review movies, so much as briefly recomend a few via my Facebook account, This was one of them...

‎'The Eye' aka 'Jian gu' is probably one of the most original ghost stories of recent years.

The movie centers around Mun, a yong woman blind since the age of 2, who receives cornea implants. At first the surgery seems to work, but gradually she starts to see ghostly figures moving in the shaddows, and people who are notthere. Then she sees a photograph of herself for the first time, and realises that the face she see's in the mirror is not her own... To tell you any more about the nature of her "ghosts" would spoil the movie (and no, it's not yet another "twist" film), but the climax rivals anything you'll see in a Hollywood blockbuster. No longer available straight from amazon (except in a box-set with it's 2 lacklustre in-name-only "sequels", it can redly be picked up on marketplace for 2-3 quid.
