The Thompsons (The Hamiltons 2)

Impossible to review, or even describe properly, without huge Hamiltons spoiler; so a very brief (spoiler free) review will proceed the full review, which will use invisitext (Highlight the orange boxes like this one to read in full, but you  probably shouldn't do that until you've seen The Hamiltons.

I was on the fence about the first film; done properly a sequel could have elevated both films into a recommendation sadly (although understandably) the sequel goes off in it's own direction.
Unfortunately, after a promising first half, quickly drowns in it's own mythology and becomes a tired teen-romance to boot.

FROM THIS POINT ON  THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR THE ORIGINAL MOVIE. THEY ARE HIDDEN BEHIND INVISITEXT, LIKE THIS, BUT REMEMBER THAT INVISITEXT DOES NOT WORK ON MOBILE DEVICES

IF YOU CAN READ THIS WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING INVISITEXT DOES NOT WORK ON YOUR DEVICE, AND YOU WILL SEE THE SPOILERS.

After a "wrong place, wrong time" incident, in which Joshua is accidently shot and injured by some random criminals holding up a roadside cafe, The Thompsons (Nee Hamiltons) immediate and horrific revenge lands them on the run to Europe in search of more of their kind, and Francis finds himself trapped in a box.
How he got there is a long story but, through flashback, we learn it.With the rest of his family headed for the same fate, it's up to Francis to get out, save them and take revenge on his captors.
The films higher budget shows, as does the fact that everyone in front of, and behind, the camera has had some more experience this time out, but as I hinted in the "safe" part of review, it isn't long before 'twilight fever' creeps in.

Beyond that, there isn't much to say.

A wasted opportunity indeed.
